Hello, wonder if any of you ladies have a similar experience. I know you can get small bruises after a blood test but I have
never had a bruise that's way above the blood test wound. I had my second pregnancy blood tests on Friday and this is the result of those ... Is this anythng I should be worried about?

Thank you smile

That's well within the normal range.

It looks like several I've had after blood tests. I seem to bruise easily. My sister is a nurse and assured me it was nothing to worry about

Yes, I look like I've been beaten up afterwards too.

I had one like that on Friday - it looks like I've been punched. And yet the injection was almost painless and the nurse was amazingly efficient at getting the sample.

My previous one was done by a doctor, who took 35 minutes to get a sample, and I felt like a pincushion - 8 injections in various places to try and get a tiny sample. Strangely, not a single bruise, though.

That's because the doctor was missing your vein each time and so not causing any bleeding!! 😂

Looks normal to me OP, congrats on your pregnancy!

I was told by the hospital phlebotomist that pressing on it really hard after it's done helps to counteract the worst of the bruising. It's worked for me most times

Very common. Nothing to worry about

I got an absolute belter of a bruise that's still there from a blood test on Friday. It's not something that normally happens so I've no idea what went wrong this time.
I certainly don't remember the nurse beating the crap out of me? grin

Yes well within a normal range OP.

Best way to avoid them is to hover above the phlebotomist ready to press down hard on the cotton wool after it's done, as soon as they life their own fingers away.

Some people and peoppe with certain medical conditions will also be prone to easy bruising and it's a bit unavoidable in that respect but the immediate pressure will reduce it.
